They say a picture is worth a thousand words – but could it also be worth thousands, or tens of thousands, of dollars?

Can you spot the difference?

Take a look at the image above – the steam generators appear identical at first, but upon closer inspection you can spot one significant difference: one has a fan and duct system, and the other does not.

The generator on the left, using Flue Gas Recirculation (FGR), is employing massive amounts of flue gas to dilute the fuel and air mixing to help lower NOx. It requires a 50-75 horsepower fan to pull the flue gas down the duct and return to the burner. By its nature, this heating of massive amounts of flue gas introduces inefficiency.

Now, let’s take a look at the unit on the right (close-up below), which uses ClearSign’s Duplex Technology.

ClearSign’s Duplex Technology drops NOx emissions to unprecedented low levels and increases fuel efficiency and process throughput with lower capital and operational costs than the traditional, inefficient FGR method.

The key to the Duplex technology’s success is its patented process, which holds tiny flames in a porous ceramic matrix instead of a single large flame. These tiny flames have an enhanced radiant heat profile, which improves efficiency and increases maximum throughput potential. In turn, pollutants are prevented from ever even forming.

Whether a new build or retrofit to existing operations, ClearSign’s Duplex technology can quickly and easily positively impact your bottom line. To learn more, contact us at 206.673.4848 or info@clearsign.com.
